Resilience in the face of crisis

COVID-19 and the Black Lives Matter movement have both brought about lasting change for our culture.

Initially, I wondered how we would adapt to the changes of COVID-19 and still be able to meet needs and serve the people of Flemingdon and the surrounding neighbourhoods.

Now, heading into our fourth month and the staff team of FPM has continued to flourish in the ever-changing landscape – working the delicate balance of service and safety.  This is an amazing team!

185 pounds of fresh produce from the farm was given to our community last week!

In the midst of the chaos, hope is found.

Hope in the voice of the oppressed speaking out for justice;
Hope in the voice of the privileged standing up for the equity of their neighbour;
Hope in the voice of the neighbour connecting to the lonely and the afraid.

We continue to fight for change in the lives of the oppressed and the staff at FPM stand alongside each and every one to bring about positive change.

My hope is that you have found some peace in the chaos – that you have witnessed something positive and grace filled that helps to drown out the din.

I read this morning of a friend who was cherishing the simple breakfast made quietly by her son and then brought to her before her first of many virtual work meetings.  Peace that drowns out the din.

As we embark on the summer months, may you find time for peace and refreshment.

Thank you for your support of the work we do at FPM. We appreciate you and all you do.

Cheers to you and human kindness!
